WHAT IS THE EXCELLENCE OF BUDDHA POORNIMA? ORIGIN   BY BHAGAVAN SRI BHARADWAJA

The greatness of Buddha Poornima that falls in May is that it is said to be a mile stone in Human History.
The success of Newton, Einstein in the last 2 centuries in Physical Science, and the achievements of Darwin (19th century) in Biological Science can be compared to the achievements of Buddha in Spiritual field. Not only that, it is clearly understood as written in “Wignana Weechikalu” that Spirituality interpreted by Him is incorporated into the Modern Science.
In 6 century B.C Kapilavastu is ruled by king Suddhodana of Sakhya dynasty. His queen is Mayavathi. She gave birth to a male child in Lumbini gardens (located on the border of Nepal), while traveling from Kapilavastu with her attendants .After delivery, she died on the 7th day. Suddhodana brought up the child who lost the mother, with great love and affection. The boy was named Siddhartha. Siddhartha was educated by eminent Gurus and has grown into young talented person with remarkable intelligence.  He became very efficient in archery. He showed his expertness in archery and defeated all the others in a contest and won the beautiful princess Yasodhara as his wife. Siddhartha, who lead a luxurious life right from his childhood, had a wonderful wife Yasodhara and a son named Rahul. In spite of  this, there is a fear in Suddhodana’s mind. When Siddhartha was born, priests reviewed his Horoscope, excellent body physique and predicted that He will become either a great emperor or a great Saint. In addition, Siddhartha even though attained mastery in all the education; he appeared to be dissatisfied with all the material pleasures. He always appeared seriously thinking about the secret of life. Suddhodana was scared that Siddhartha might turn into a monk, and took all necessary precautions to keep him ignorant of unpleasantness and not face any face sorrows or difficulties.
When the desire for the search of truth arises in the heart, nothing can subside that divine light - Just like the fetus in womb, and the rising sun, that desire will be definitely expressed out. One day Prince was traveling in the chariot, saw an old man, a patient, and a corpse. He inquired the charioteer about them. He started thinking deeply after coming home about the fact that one has to face these consequences at any point of the life. Then he saw a monk and realized that the monk renunciated all relations, left the house, and was leading a sanctified life by overcoming sorrow. Then he had deep thinking about all the pleasures that he was enjoying. He understood that Human life is burnt every second not only by the old age, diseases, death but also several other forms of difficulties. Just like the rescuer trying to put off the fire of the burning house - He recognized the necessity to find a solution for all these miseries in human life.
He said farewell to his wife and son who are fast asleep. He went to a forest in his chariot. He left his charioteer Channa, and started walking from there. He left all the valuable ornaments, his beautiful hair, his clothes and entered this large world as a monk. The second aspect of the prediction of the scholars when he was born came true.           Siddhartha met sages Alarakalamudu, uddakudu and asked them several questions about the sorrows, truth of life etc. Their answers did not satisfy him. After that, in the outskirts of town Vuruvela of Magadha kingdom, for about 6 years he did a dreadful penance by making his body lean .He attained control of his mind by conquering fear, contentment and affection but realized that He did not attain enlightenment. So he decided to eat suitable food in a particular manner. Then the remaining 5 monks thought he ruined the penance, so they left Him.
After taking his first Bhiksha from Sujatha, a lower caste woman, he took bath and sat under a peepal tree (raawi chettu) in Padmaasanam. He firmly decided that he should attain the knowledge with persistent effort and quest. It was in the month of May, on the day of Full moon (Poornima) and at that time he was 35 years old.
Now a days it has become a fashion to describe religion as a narcotic, spirituality as a pleasant sweet dream, that can be used to run away from the realities of life. In such an atmosphere, how many people have the courage to renounce all the comforts in the world, and accept spontaneously the life style of poor people and enquire the truth like the eminent scientists?  How many scientists are there to turn their life into a dangerous scientific laboratory?
In the beginning of this essay, it is appropriate to compare Buddha with scientists like Newton, Einstein. The reason for such comparison is - Buddha experimented and scrutinized in the discernible laboratory about the mind which is the root cause of all miseries; and about the reality of the things that cause the miseries.
When the full moon is very brilliant in the sky, at that very pleasant moment, the countless life experiences are analyzed scientifically in the talented mind of Siddhartha. Seven days passed away. Just like the sun which does not wax and wane , in a similar way the light of knowledge remained in His mind .Just like the mother nature has procured a modern radiance and beauty from the beautiful spring season, in a similar way The entire universe and all living beings appeared as permanent forms of knowledge to him.
Then Buddha met the other 5 monks in Saranath which is close to Kasi, and taught them the knowledge he acquired. Immediately after listening to it a monk named KONDANNA became the first disciple. Then the remaining four became the disciples. He told them to spread the knowledge to all the human beings  in this entire world.
He said that One can accept and follow -- Poorna Jnani Buddha, the Dharma (which is solution for all the misery) preached by Him, and the society established by HIM (as an instrument for the implementing that Dharma) with out any hesitation.
Afterwards during rainy season, he preached the Dharma in the outskirts of Vuruvela to sages like Kasypasa etc and accepted them as His disciples. While spreading his message through several regions, he reached Kapilavastu as per his father’s request. Yasodhara asked Rahul to approach Buddha and request to give him the inheritance. Immediately Buddha gave Rahul Deeksha and took him into the Buddha Society. How many fathers can do like this?
His relative and disciple Devadatta became jealous of the reputation of the Buddha. He created a split in the Buddha society. Even then he could get the authority so he attempted to kill Buddha. He gave alcohol to a wild Elephant and left that on Buddha. Humanity awakened in the heart of that wildly running cruel Elephant. Buddha‘s friendliness was reflected. The next moment, it turned around quietly. This is not a fairy tale. A similar incident happened recently that can be seen in Akkalkot Swamy Charitra.
While traveling through out the country, Buddha came to a village named paava and stayed in mango garden that belonged to a potter. One day after taking his food Buddha was tired. He turned to his right side and said “I am tired, I will take rest”. His disciple, Ananda heard this and cried that Buddha‘s last days are approaching. Several devotees from the nearby villages came for his Darshan. Buddha with out taking any rest,  was preaching all the devotees, and his disciples that day and the night before.
He said “Rely on this Dharma and your knowledge, with your effort try to improve yourself.  Don’t depend on any other external support. ”
Then he went into a great meditating state and left the body. Devotees took darshan of his body for 7 days. His body is cremated after that and the ashes were buried in 10 different places and a Buddhist monuments were built. Only Lumbini garden, Kusinaram, Buddha Gaya, Saranath monuments were discovered. The rest were not recognized by the historians.
What is the solution for misery and sorrow founded by Buddha during that time?
The human deeds are the results of his thinking .He said - “One should understand ill effects of affection and hatred on the mind. One should try to remove them with proper understanding. ” Now days by forgetting this fact, we can see the transformation of the achievements of mankind in scientific and technological fields, into destruction. Even though all the living beings appear different, the energy expressed in them is same .The experiences of happiness and sorrow are the same. If a person forgets this truth and tries to cause either physical or psychological harm to other living beings because of hatred, selfishness, then he is creating sorrow for the entire world and for himself. The reason behind this is as Newton said in nature for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When a stone falls in the pond it creates ripples that travel to the shore and after hitting the shore they return back to the center, to make the water still.  The karma principle taught by Buddha is similar to this. This entire universe is a form of an unbroken live energy.  Hatred, violence is the disturbances caused in the human hearts just like the stone that falls into the center of the pond.  If this disturbance can be made peaceful through Dhyanam (Meditation) and Awagaahana (understanding), then every individual would contribute for the welfare of this entire universe.
So Buddha‘s goal is to teach every individual this understanding and discipline. So on this Buddha poornima let us scrutinize our hearts and become eligible for the inheritance of knowledge bestowed by him.
Utilize properly the wisdom of the human mind and become true Human beings– isn’t this the preaching of BUDDHA?

SRI SAI BABA THE SPIRITUAL FRUIT OF MANKIND- ORIGIN BY BHAGAVAN SRI BHARADWAJA.

In the year 1854 Sri Sai Baba appeared as a 16-year-old youth at Shiridi for the first time under a neem tree. For the next 56 years, though Baba made Shiridi as his permanent abode, even the closest of his devotees like Mahalsapathy, Shyama, Abdullah and such others could not elicit any authentic information about His birth particulars. Details like caste, religion, date and place of His birth have remained undecided till date. Devotee's like LateB.V.Narasimha Swamyji tried to investigate into it but couldn't succeed in coming to any conclusion. Readers would be interested to know about such efforts.  Information in this regard came first from the quarters of Mahalsapathy. It is said that after the demise of Mahalsapathy small book was found in his house with a message "Sai Baba was born in Patri" scribbled in it with a pencil. However, there was no mention of the clue as to how Mahalsapathy could get this information. Late Sri Vemuri Venkateswara Rao in this regard concluded that Mahalsapathy could not have written this since he was an illiterate.
Sri Sai himself told a few of his devotees that he came from Selu and that his Guru was 'Venkusa.' He made the second aspect clear when he mentioned that same to the lawyer of 'Dhulia' court. A devotee by name Dasganu tried to investigate on this issue.  Later Dasganu through his keertanas (songs written by him in praise of Lord Sai) conveyed that Sri Sai was born in Patri village. His parents handed him over to a fakir in childhood itself and later the fakir gave away the young boy to Sri Gopal Rao Desmukh, a, a resident of Selu, who was a famous devotee of Lord Venkateswara, landlord and a great saint. Venkusa's disciples grew jealous of this young boy for the special grace showered on him and tried to kill him. So, they hurled a brick at the young boy, which struck Venkusa. He immediately directed young Sai to proceed to Shiridi and breathed his last. Late Sri B.V. Narasimha Swamy gave the same account in his book "SAI BABA'S DIVINE LIFE –Volume I." Henceforth this story became popular among Sai devotees.
Sri B.V. Narasimha Swamy collected the experiences of all devotees who served Sri Sai in his physical form and published it. In that book Dasganu writes: "Bhaktisaramrutham" is the last in the series of books I authored in which chapters 52 and 53 are about "Sri Sai Baba". After the completion of these chapters, I placed it before Baba.Baba blessed it by saying "it is good" I penned down to the rest of the Chapters mostly after 1918 and the book got published in the year 1925.
The details regarding the past life of Sri Sai relating to Selu was written by me relying to a certain extent on the clues given by Baba and to certain extent by the residents of Selu village. All that Baba told about Selu was that he had come from Selu. While I was working for Police department, I started going to Selu for collecting information. I cannot precisely say who has provided which information since it was 35 years ago that I made such enquiries. The residents of Selu told me that some 100 years ago, an old saint lived in that village. An young fakir who came to him was being trained under his guidance. After sometime the saint was killed by a few who disliked him by pelting stones at him. The young fakir escaped .Sri Sai told Nanasaheb Chandorkar in my presence that the brick with him was given by his Guru Venkusa.'
So Dasganu submitted that the rest of the story is his pure imagination. Further, the details regarding Selu mentioned in  the 28th chapter was written by Dasganu after the Mahasamadhi of Baba. That is to say, the chapters 52 and 53 that had Baba's blessings didn't contain the particulars regarding Selu and Patri.
It was the year 1901 when Dasganu made enquiries in Selu village.100 years prior to it i.e. around 1801, the saint must have breathed his last. If the story is taken to be true, Sri Sai must have been around 50 years when he set his foot on the Shiridi soil. Hence it goes without saying that the story woven around Patri and Selu cannot be true when viewed from any angle.
Recently I came across some information, which gives strength to the version that Baba came from Selu village.
Nanasaheb Rasne, the fourth son of Damodar Rasne, personally served Sri Sai for 20 long years. He told me the following while he was at Shiridi."Once a saint by name Gadge Maharaj visited my house. When I enquired how he attained self realization, he narrated in detail."
' In his past life he was working as a clerk at a cloth store in Shivgaon Patharthi.Oneday a Muslim Fakir with divine radiance came for alms. Nobody came forward to offer him alms owing to religious bigotry. This clerk intending to offer him alms took leave, went home and brought Roti and onions. By then the Fakir had left the village and was sitting in a secluded area the corn just plucked from the fields. On seeing this clerk, the Fakir admonished him saying-
                                      "Why did you come?"
"Noticing that none had offered you alms, I have come to offer the same'
"Will you offer me anything that I ask you for?"
"But for money you can ask me anything including my life .I have no money."
                        "Then give me your life!"
"Please take it. I am already vexed with this life.It is not something which I can take out and give you"
Then the fakir placed his hand on the clerk's head as a mark of blessing. Immediately, he fell into ecstasy and lost consciousness, he hurriedly went back to his shop and later to his house and declared to his people that his obligation towards them is over and absolving himself of all the bonds, returned once again to the Fakir. By then the Fakir had travelled a considerable distance. On seeing him, the Fakir rebuked, 'why have you come again to torture me?' "I cannot live without you," said the disciple. The Fakir then took him to a saint 's tomb and made him to dig a pit near it. He then asked him to pour two pots full of water into it. The Fakir sipped that water thrice and made his disciple do the same. The disciple again slipped into ecstasy. When he regained the consciousness, the fakir was not found there.
Later, on learning that the Saint reached Shiridi, he at once set out for Shiridi enquiring about the Fakir here and there. Finally when he reached Shiridi he was told a strange Fakir was residing in the masjid. He headed straight to the mosque. As he found the curtains were lowered, he raised them a little and peeped inside.  "Lo! There was his Guru!" The Fakir inside flew into rage and started abusing  " You Rascal, are you not satisfied by squeezing my flesh and blood. Have you now come to eat my bones too? After bestowing upon you all that you wanted, why have you come to trouble me further? Get lost." Thus rebuking, the Fakir hurled a bricked at him. That hit him on his forehead and injured his forehead in the form of half-moon. "I told you not to follow me. I have blessed you completely. You will be worshipped as God. Divine Grace shall always be with you," said Sri Sai.
By this incident, it is appropriate to say that Sri Sai came from Patri. But there was no evidence to conclude that he was born there. He came there in the course of his travel only.
The details of Sai's past regarding his birth etc., recorded in Sri Satcharitra (written with the permission and complete blessings of Sri Sai) by Anna Saheb Dabholkar, (the first biographer of Sri Sai's life) states that  "Nobody knows anything about Sri Sai's parentage and his native place. Many times his devotees tried to elicit information in this regard. On many occasions, they questioned Him on the same way but never succeeded in getting any answer or information from Baba.

PARIPRASNA - ORIGIN BY BHAGAVAN SRI BHARADWAJA

Q:Sometimes mind stays calm with out any ill thoughts. Certain times mind gets disturbed from the surrounding world. These thoughts subside eventually after deep thinking. How can we attain peace of mind with stable thinking?
A : the thoughts and desires that come to mind because of changes in the body are very natural. Instead of these natural changes, the influence of movies, fashions artificial, Changes in the society create abnormal thinking and ill thoughts. If these thoughts persist they increase in severity which is a great fault.
We should eat to live. But eating unlimited quantity harms our body and it is a psychological problem. This causes a great impact on humanity and our dharma.
When fulfilling desires one should bear the responsibility. Suppressing unwanted thoughts and desires will result in drastic consequences.
With practice one can get rid of ill thoughts. A person with uncontrolled desires will affect other people. He will utilize others to fulfill his desires .this will cause a change in others thinking. Either they will behave into eh same way with others or will have terrible agony that they develop hatred towards the society.
A person who cannot love others cannot love himself. True control of mind is to cleanse it and keep it quiet from thoughts.  So it is with training yourself to become free from the compulsion of incessant thinking and attain peace of mind.
Exercise to our body and good thinking to our minds by reading good books and think about the books we have read and finally discuss and share with others. By practicing this regularly, one would be able attain the goal of self realization of inner soul.  We get enough strength from the nature in form of food, light, water, air. Most of us don’t know that we should try like this. So the energy obtained will turn into ill feelings and abnormal behavior.
So Saibaba magazine and other publications are trying very hard to generate good thinking in people. Thereby to prevent destructive activities in the society.
